Thousands of Sri Lankans, mostly from rural areas in the Northern and Eastern region of Sri Lanka, who were already struggling to survive, were adversely impacted by the inclement weather caused by the Cyclone Burevi last year and the adverse weather conditions that persisted afterwards. Many lost livelihoods, homes and even family members. Our appeal for help towards these disadvantaged communities was graciously answered by the International Medical Health Organisation (USA). IMHO USA. Thanks to their kind support, we were able to provide 225 families from rural areas in the North and East of Sri Lanka with essential grocery supplies and a much requested mosquito net. The distributions took place in Sittandy, Murukandy, Mathagal, Aalady-Uduvil and Kodikamam, with some of the items home delivered due to families being under home quarantine.
