The International Medical Health Organization (IMHO) has been supporting various health and welfare projects to the needy in Sri Lanka, since 2005. But now during this COVID-19 crisis, medical professionals from both the government and the private sectors, NGO’s and the international community have joined together at this critical juncture on a daunting task to meet the challenges brought on by the surging COVID pandemic infection and assisting the hospitals limited by the specialized equipment and supplies to provide the needed care:
- IMHO once again stepped up to provide emergency assistance by making a generous donation of medical equipment and supplies, worth US $ 3.1 million (SLK Rs.620 million) in value. The Medical equipment was procured from the University of Maryland Medical System. These medical equipment and supplies were shipped to Sri Lanka in 12 large containers and were handed over in a ceremony held at the Health Ministry’s distribution department, on Sep. 1st, 2021. The Ministry is now distributing these equipment and other critical supplies to selected hospitals throughout Sri Lanka, including the hospitals in the Central , Northern and Eastern Provinces in Sri Lanka.
- The current needs are huge, especially during the third wave of infection in Sri Lanka and IMHO is accepting dotation to meet these needs.
