Children’s Heart Surgery project with The Rotary Club of Kandy.

The International Medical Health Organization and The Rotary Club of Kandy have joined hands to provide heart surgery for children with congenital heart defects at a cost of $1250 US dollars per child. Congenital Heart Defects are the most common birth defect and leading cause of death during the first year of a child’s life. In Sri Lanka it is estimated that for every 1000 newborns there are six to eight children with Congenital Heart Defects. This will be an ongoing project.
