There is a significant increase in the request to provide lenses for cataract surgery from ophthalmologists and hospitals in Sri Lanka. Cataract is the most common cause of blindness which could be easily cured with intraocular lens implantation and is highly cost-effective. Most of the patients will have a meaningful life and many are able to go back to some form of gainful employment. IMHO is delivering 300 lenses to Vavuniya Hospital and 140 lenses to Batticola Hospital at a cost of $9300. There is an ongoing need for the lenses and IMHO USA is appealing for and accepting donations to cure the unnecessarily blind. Very many thanks.
