Diabetes is a major public health concern in Sri Lanka, affecting a significant portion of the population. Many individuals suffer not only from diabetes itself but also from its associated complications, such as heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, and nervous system disorders. To address this growing issue, a Diabetes Awareness Program was launched under the Adolescent Health Program with the support of IMHO USA. The initiative was officially inaugurated on August 27, 2024, at Jaffna Hindu College, aiming to educate students and the wider community on the prevention, early detection, and management of diabetes. This program marks an important step in promoting healthier lifestyles among youth and raising awareness about the long-term consequences of unmanaged diabetes.
