The July 2025 flood in Central Texas was a catastrophic flash flood event—rapid, explosive, and deadly—exposing critical gaps in disaster preparedness, communication, and infrastructure. Continued rescue efforts and investigations into warning systems and flood management are ongoing. 119 confirmed fatalities, with at least 95 in Kerr County, including 36 children173+ people remain missing.  This ranks among the deadliest U.S. inland freshwater floods, Camp Mystic, a girls’ summer camp along the Guadalupe River, was severely affected: 27 campers and counselors died, with several still unaccounted for.
